Creating Trust Through Your Website & Blog Posts!

There are several key elements to creating a well-structured and trustworthy blog post. The most important factor will easily be your content. But that’s not all.

Aside from the content, it’s important to make sure your posts are easily readable, non-distractive, and have a good and consistent format to them across your website. Becoming an authority on your topic by paying attention to the entire anatomy of your post, especially the content itself is important.

Additional things like fonts, the way you break up your paragraphs, and type of images you use can also play a role in how other individuals might perceive your post. It’s important to look beyond just the SEO benefits as well, and pay even closer attention to the entire user experience and amount of value your content is delivering.

Important questions to ask yourself relating to the trustworthiness and expertise of your content might include:

Quality Content – Whether your blog post thoroughly covers the topic at hand. If someone is searching for a keyword you’re attempting to rank, it’s important you deliver as much quality information that can answer the question that individual is looking for. Otherwise, your post won’t rank as highly.

Affiliate Links/Banners – Are you using too many affiliate links or banners? If so, you definitely want to try and minimize these. The goal of your blog posts shouldn’t be to make money, but to help your visitors as much as possible. Excellent customer service will always equate to greater trust and keep you and your site better off in the long-run.

Content Accuracy – Is the information in your post accurate? Accuracy is key when attempting to rank for anything in the search engines. Equally as important, is making sure the majority of the posts you’ve written in the past are accurate. If you find contradicting information to a certain topic you’ve written, that should warrant a second look into the blog post you created. Don’t be afraid to change or update the information in that post, especially if you’re worrying over SEO ramifications.

Connecting With Readers – When blogging, it’s important to try and use your genuine voice. If you want to instill and create trust, use examples of your own life experiences to get your point across and connect with readers. These can sometimes turn out to be some of the most highly valuable blog posts. If you don’t have any experiences, give an example of someone who does.

About Me Section – Including an about section on your blog is another vital aspect to the foundation of your blog. Make sure your visitors can learn more about you and what you have to offer, even if your not a huge business or corporation.

Use Of Headings For Better User Experience – Are your breaking up your post with headings? Headings are a great little tool to keep your blog posts organized and separate your different paragraphs under different titles. I like to choose my headings before I even go to work on my blog post. It not only helps to inspire new ideas, but is a great way of breaking up your content. When you use headings, make sure to not use more than one H1 tag. Keep the H1 or H2 tag for the title and separate the rest of your content into H3 and H4 tags. But let’s not get too specific.. In-fact here’s a great website that goes into detail on how to properly use headings.

Bullet Points & Outlines For Better User Experience – As minor as this might sound, bullet points and outlines are so useful for summarizing what your blog post is about. Many times, your readers will want to get an overview of the entire blog post itself instead of reading the entire thing. So imagine your readers are short on time, a great way to explain what your entire blog post is about is by creating bullet points either at the beginning or end of your post.

Referencing To Outside Sources – While this is something I could definitely work on more, referencing to external sources is a great way to gain the trust of your readers and the search engines. It shows you truly care about spreading value in your niche and community. After all the web is made of and inter-connected with one link to another, so it only makes sense from both an SEO and user perspective to link to other credible sources and information.

Interlinking To Related Content – There are so many website that don’t bother to interlink, but definitely should. Interlinking to other related posts on your site allows you to compare one topic with another you’ve recently written. It gives your users additional information to check out and use in their decision process or entertainment purpose. Either way, don’t underestimate other articles you’ve written in the past and always try to have a related post section on your site. This will serve as excellent supplementary content for your visitors to look forward to.

Minimizing Ads & Distractions – It’s also important to never try and push a sale so-to-speak, or force a click that doesn’t make sense. Not only will it make a huge difference in your earnings, but will make your visitors more reluctant to leave. The better route is to minimize the number of ads on your site and provide valuable and engaging content in return. This will give visitors a much greater incentive to follow advice that is on point and create more trust in the end.

Comments & Engagement – Comments go a very long way in creating more trust among visitors. This is something I see many sites to this day still disable. But there is something inherently unique about comments. It adds a level of discussion to your site, provides more information for users, and can even serve as a little FAQ section. While comments might not have a direct influence on rankings, they can surely make an impact on how trustworthy your site is.

Summary

I hope these tips on creating a well-structured and trust-worthy blog post was helpful. I found them to be especially useful for lifestyle or personal bloggers who aren’t exactly apart of a bigger business. I highly recommend keeping these tips in mind the next time you go to create a blog post and really believe these will result in more trust, better rankings, and a better user experience in the long-run, which should be our primary goal. Simply put, more ways in which we can help your new and returning visitors, the better.. While constantly finding new ways to do this can seem hard, your genuineness will always show through your content!
