How To Make Money Testing Websites With User Testing

By | May 19, 2016

If you haven’t heard of User Testing, this could be a great way for you to earn some money in your spare-time (and that’s not something I tend to say a lot). For me to say that, means this opportunity is probably worth taking a second look. The way User Testing works is you test out websites and offer your opinion, User Testing Reviewwhich in-turn pays you $10 for every completed task.

The time-frame of these tasks usually last between 10 and 20 minutes, which shows that User Testing pays a lot higher than any survey company ever could. The reason they do this is in order to help both small and large Fortune 500 companies like Apple, Microsoft, Adobe, and Dropbox improve their websites performance and conversion rates.

To get started you’re only required a few things, which include:

#1. A PC or Mac and an internet connection.

#2. You’ll also need a microphone to answer some User Testing questions.

#3. iPhone, iPad, or Android phone or tablet if you’re interested in taking their mobile tests.

#4. You must be 18 years old.

#5. Have the ability to download the User Testing software.

#6. Have the ability to speak your thoughts aloud in English.

The User Testing is basically an opportunity made to only help you earn money on the side (as explicitly stated on the website). While this isn’t something you can make a living with, it’s perfect if you’re simply looking to make some extra money to pay your grocery bills or go out for the night. User Testing also only pays out through PayPal, so you will need an account, and you get paid exactly 7 days after having completed a website or app test.

Also, just because you’re required to speak in English doesn’t mean you need to be from an English native country. User Testing is looking for applicants from all over the world. I believe the hardest part of the getting started process is having to download the software in which you are then required to record your voice and create a quick 2-minute video. This video mainly consists of a recording of you completing a task. Below is a sample of a User Testing application so you can get a better idea of what you can expect.

As you can see the video is really only about 45 seconds long and consists of the applicant completing one of the tests by offering her opinion on that websites usability. If you think this is the kind of job you can handle, then I definitely recommend getting started with User Testing. Just make sure you have a good microphone so that your voice is crystal clear. When a job comes in, you’ll immediately get notified and in case you are interested, here are 10 other sites that are very similar to UserTesting:

  • Enroll
  • Feedback Army
  • Loop11
  • Testing Time
  • TryMyUI
  • UserFeel
  • Userlytics
  • StartUpLift
  • WhatUsersDo
  • Validately

I really think User Testing and other related websites can be a great way to make some additional money from home and the main reason being that it doesn’t take up a lot of your time. Unlike surveys where you’re spending hours just trying to get more points for that next gift card, you’re only spending 10 to 20 minutes here evaluating a certain aspect of a website and getting paid $10 in return. What’s not to like!

There are very few companies out there that will actually pay you $10 for a 10 to 20 minute job and the reason you can’t make a ton is because the opportunities are limited. But go out there and give any one of these user testing companies a try. This is a great alternative to taking surveys because you’re getting paid more money for less of your time.
